How can we help you to be compliant
Steps to Ensure Safety and Obtain Your Certificate
Registration of your pool or spa with your local council and obtain the statement.
Receive free pre-inspection guidance to minimize the costs associated with re-inspections.
The next stage involves having our skilled team examine your pool or spa barriers. If any issues arise during the inspection, our team is ready to assist you in addressing and repairing them.
After ensuring that your pool or spa meets all safety standards, we provide you with a Form 23 for submission to your local council.
Barrier requirements
All swimming pools and spas capable of containing water to a depth greater than 30cm must have a compliant safety barrier to restrict access by young children (under the age of five).
These rules apply regardless of whether young children live at the property or visit the property.
Barriers are required for:
in-ground pools and spas
above-ground pools and spas, including relocatable and inflatable pools that are capable of holding more than 30cm depth of water and require assembly on site
indoor pools and spas
bathing and wading pools capable of containing more than 30cm depth of water.
If you already have a pool or spa
As a pool or spa owner, it is your obligation to maintain the safety barrier to ensure it remains compliant.
The following checklists will help you assess the safety of your barrier. Different standards apply depending on how old your pool or spa is.
Checklist 1 (for pools and spas installed before 8 April 1991) (PDF, 674.37 KB)
Checklist 2 (for pools and spas installed between 8 April 1991 and 30 April 2010) (PDF, 595.22 KB)
Checklist 3 (for pools and spas installed from 1 May 2010) (PDF, 3341.21 KB)
Any alterations to an existing pool barrier must comply with regulations and may require a building permit. Check with your local council or building surveyor for advice.
